Connecting Rod Bearing Installation Instructions-best auto zone


The connecting rod is a link in several kinds of mechanisms. Usually one end of it is intended to follow a circular path, while the other end follows a path along a straight line or curve of large radius. The term is sometimes applied, however, to any straight link that transmits motion or power from one linkage to another within a mechanism.
There are many things related with the connecting rod. One of them is the coupler which is the connecting rod of the four-bar linkage. It has special significance. The motion of its plane can now be synthesized to furnish desired paths for points, or desired positions of the entire connecting-rod plane.

Besides, it is then not primarily used for transmission of force or motion from input to output crank, but the entire mechanism is employed to impart to the connecting-rod plane certain displacements, and sometimes velocities and accelerations.
The connecting rod bearing is a kind of product that may not be very familiar to us. It provides the surfaces on which the crankshaft and the piston's wrist pin ride and are a crucial aspect of a properly running motor. This type of bearing is quite important to the whole machine. If you want to rebuild the engine, the replacement of this kind of bearing is a routine part. But its replacement is not very easy. As a result, you should refer to some good instructions to do the work better.
First of all, you should separate the connecting rods from the pistons and crankshaft if they are still attached. And remove the rod and end cap that are bolted to the crank with two rod bolts at the larger end. However, the rod is fastened to the piston with a wrist pin at the other end.
Secondly, you should remove the old bearings from the rod. Tap on the top edge of the bearings to release them. Then you have to clean the entire surface of the rod very thoroughly with degreaser or mineral spirits.
Thirdly, you just slide one bearing into the larger end of the rod and another bearing into the end cap. The bearing should slide down into the curved part of the rod. After that, you have to press out a small, round bearing that the wrist pin slides through and rides on. Press or tap in the new bearing, being careful not to scratch or mar any surfaces on it.
